This may be the oldest shot in the Dixons photo collection of their end of Enclosure Bay, no boatshed, the Road is a track.
A couple more old colour photos from the Dixons collection, one showing "Happy Valley",or, Empire Rd, bachs
Another dramatic cloudscape Jan 2009
The sun sets, reflects in the window pane.
A mother duck takes her children for an early evening paddle across the sparkling waters of Enclosure Bay towards the Dixon holiday residence as it is in 2009... and away from our cat.
Enclosure Bay as the Dixon family have seen it at different times.
Bit of a surge washing into the bay in this photo, gravel road, no seawall. (supplied by the Dixon family)
The Dixon residence on completion (nearly, judging by the interior shot complete with camp bed). Supplied by the Dixon Family.
A couple of photos from the Dixons showing how it was pre Bach, boatshed, boat, tent and longdrop.
One of the most prominent features of Enclosure Bay is the Dixons Bach, situated just about as close the the water as feasibly possible. The second photo shows the Eddy's bach to the left. Solly's (Solomon) horse Brum relaxing where the bach is now. (photos supplied by the Dixon Family)
"We're going to the bach". or, "down to Waiheke"....or , "On the ferry", short phrases, simple sentences. You know it is said that a picture paints a thousand words.., these few words paint a thousand pictures for me , memories, times I had as a child.. times my children now experience , the same things that generations of children in our family have experienced ...core, basic if you like. The sea, the air, nature... the long drop. Basic, core.. but rich, intricate and beyond price.
