Heres a sight my great grandmother would not have seen back in the 1920s. Kereru or New Zealand bush pigeon are getting almost common on Waiheke Island. Having no possum to destroy the bush certainly helps. This photo was taken sitting on the deck of the bach, this bird would turn up every morning in the puriri tree.

The first aerial photo showing Enclosure Bay. There were a number of photos taken of areas on Waiheke that were for sale. I think I can just make out the shearers hut. (remember you can click on any of these pictures to make them bigger)

Moving on a few years.. these interesting two shots may have been taken withen minutes if each other judging by the batches present and the plant growth.... colour enters the picture... these were taken , what , late fifties early sixties?

Enclosure Bay tide out, this shot must have been taken late 30s .. compared to the shot below, there is a bit more foliage apparent, also two dinghies on the beach (and so it begins).

Another before and after , what a difference a few years make, the more modern photo must be fifties.. theres a road and electicity

Ok... its fun quiz time..
question... What is this beach!, clue, there is alot of SAND on it, some would say more sand then than now, though it is still quite SANDY. Clue two... its not Enclosure Bay, also its not near Taupo... well ok on a global scale it actualy is quite near Taupo.
